Paranapanema is one of the most important Brazilian companies of international standing in the field of non-ferrous metals, working in the casting and refinement of primary and semi-manufactured products made of copper and copper alloys. Company activities are distributed among three industrial units: Dias D’Ávila (BA); Utinga in Santo André (SP); and Serra (ES).
Dias d’Ávila (BA)
The Primary Copper Unit, is engaged in casting and refinement of electrolytic copper under the Caraíba brand, and metallurgy of semi-finished. Located in Dias d’Ávila, at the Camaçari (BA) Industrial Cluster, the plant has 568,032 m² of land, with 90,342 m² of built area. The plant works in casting and refinement of primary copper using the pyrometallurgical process, producing cathodes, rebar, drawn wire, sulfuric acid, oleum, iron silicate and anode sludge, from which precious metals are extracted.
Serra (ES)
The Copper Products Unit, engaged in metallurgy of semi-finished products of copper and copper alloys. Located in the municipality of Serra in Vitória (ES), the plant has 40,500 m² of land, with 9,640 m² of built area. The Capixaba factory produces copper and bronze connections for hot and cold water plumbing systems, and pipes for industrial, residential gas and fire-fighting systems. It also has NSF-61 certification, as well as ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001 certification.
Santo André (SP)
he Copper Products Unit, engaged in metallurgy of semi-finished products of copper and copper alloys. Located in the Utinga district in Santo André (SP), the plant has 240,845.96 m² of land, with 88,061 m² of built area. It produces laminates, wire, bars and profiles in copper and copper alloys, from which are manufactured parts and components for the automotive, electronics, apparel, hardware, bathroom fixture, stamping and machining industries, among others. With the new factory fitted out with the most advanced technology for copper tube production, tubes are produced that are used in domestic and industrial air conditioning systems, compressors, components and dozens of other refrigeration systems, as well as tubes intended for civil construction. The plant also has ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001 certification.
